Here’s another new building in Beijing which is not really part of the structures for the 2008 Beijing Olympics but is currently the talk of the town alongside The Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube.
The building is the new headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV). The 230 meter (755 foot) building will house more than 10,000 staff.
The new CCTV building is not a traditional structure, but in the form of a three-dimensional continuous cranked loop formed by a 9-storey podium joining two 50-storey high leaning towers, which are linked at the top via a 13-storey cantilevered “overhang” structure at 36 storeys above the ground.
The second building, the TVCC, includes a hotel, a visitor’s centre, a large public theatre, and exhibition spaces.
Around $600 millon was spent to construct the building.
